Hidden Gem Farm Stand

A Place Meant to Be Experienced

Hidden Gem Homestead is a place that invites curiosity. When people hear our name, we hope they feel an immediate pull to visit, to wander, and to experience the land in one of the many ways it can be enjoyed. It is a space created for slowing down, taking notice, and reconnecting with the natural rhythm of a working homestead.

Rooted in the Land

Hidden Gem Homestead is located in Underwood on 40 acres shaped by time, care, and hard work. Long before today, this land served as a homestead and apple farm. For more than 30 years, it supported pear orchards tended by our grandparents, who lived on and cared for this property for over five decades. While we are not focused on carrying a family legacy in name, we deeply respect the history of this land and are intentional about honoring each chapter that came before ours.

Our Vision for Hidden Gem Homestead

Our vision is centered on self-sufficiency, thoughtful stewardship of the land, and education through experience. We are building a homestead that balances productivity with peace, offering visitors the opportunity to step into a quieter way of life, even if only for a short while. Every decision we make is guided by a desire to work with the land, not rush it, and create experiences that feel genuine and grounded.

The Gully & What’s Taking Shape

A special area of our property known as the Gully holds much of our future vision. This forested and evolving landscape is where we plan to thoughtfully place cabins and yurts for agritourism. These spaces are designed to offer a peaceful retreat while remaining closely connected to the land itself, allowing guests to experience both comfort and simplicity in a natural setting.

Growing, Teaching, and Sharing

Growth at Hidden Gem Homestead is both practical and intentional. Our garden, currently small but productive, will continue to expand to include a greenhouse and a variety of pick-your-own areas. These spaces are planned to offer flowers, berries, a pumpkin patch, and you-cut Christmas trees, alongside existing chestnut trees.

Animals are part of daily life here, including Muscovy ducks, barn cats, a bunny, and pigeons, with plans to add goats and chickens. A historic barn built in 1920 is also being reimagined as a space for workshops, classes, and small events, creating opportunities for hands-on learning and shared experiences centered around the land.

An Open-Hearted, Intentional Space

Hidden Gem Homestead is designed to be selectively shared. While much of the property remains private, visitors will be welcomed into clearly designated areas intended for exploration, learning, and enjoyment. Our long driveway leads to designated parking, with walking access guiding guests through approved spaces, encouraging a slower and more thoughtful experience of the homestead.

A Work in Progress

This homestead is actively evolving. It is still being shaped, tested, and dreamed into reality. We do not claim to be experts, nor do we believe everything must be perfectly figured out. What we offer is an honest, growing place rooted in care, patience, and respect for the land.

Looking Ahead

As Hidden Gem Homestead continues to grow, we look forward to offering small-scale, thoughtfully created goods such as art, fresh produce, and simple food and drink items. More than anything, we hope this space inspires curiosity, encourages rest, and reminds visitors that meaningful experiences take time to cultivate.
